TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (4TH SUMMARY)

  4TH SUMMARY 

CHAPTER 23-31

Jem and scout are worry about Atticus that Ewell threats him. Atticus tells them that because he made Ewell like a stupid person. Scout tells everyone that she wants to invite Walter to dinner, but Alexandra doesn’t allow it. Anyhow, Tom sent to the prison and he needs to go to the electric chair. Atticus tells that a white man’s word always beats a black man’s. Alexandra, Calpurina, and Scout go to missionary circle to tea. They talk about Mrunas, Africans, and Christianity. Suddenly, Atticus calls Alexandra and tells Robinson tried to escape and was shot seventeen times. 

The school begins, there’s still Boo’s house where they pass every day. In school, Scout’s teacher teaches about Hitler’s persecution of the Jew and equality. Scout mentions the trial of Tom and Jem tells never mention the trial again.

In October, Ewell gets a job and Atticus gets the job instead of him. Judge Taylor notices that someone is going around his house and he finds someone that escaping away from his house. In Halloween, the town sponsors open a party and play with the town people. Scout wears a wire mesh that looks like ham. 

On the day of school, Jem, Scout and Jacobs go together to the school and visit haunted house.  When they go back to home, Jem hears noises behind him and Scout. Jem call out that what is the noise, but there’s no reply, so they run to the home. Scout loses her balance and falls down and cries. Scout reaches home and goes to call Dr. Reynolds. Atticus tells Heck that someone attacked his children. Jem breaks his arm, but they are fine. Suddenly Heck tells Atticus that Ewell is lying down under the tree and dead with a knife stuck on his body.

Ewell tries killing the children, but Boo helps them. Atticus is thinking that Jem killed Ewell, but Heck says Ewell killed himself. Boo is the one who stabbed Ewell. Heck dosen’t want to make Boo as a mockingbird, so just makes that Ewell killed himself. Scout and Jem take Boo to his home and come back.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (3RD SUMMARY)

3RD SUMMARY 

CHAPTER 16-22

            The Atticus’s trial begins next day. Every town people come to the trial except Ms. Maudie. Jem, Scout, and Dill wait people to enter the courthouse that makes Atticus not to see them. But there are too much people, so they sit where Black people sit. The prosecutor, Mr Glimer asks questions to Heck Tate. Bob Ewell tells when he goes to home with Gilmer, her daughter Mayell raped by Tom. Ewell is saying that he heard yelling outside of his house and saw Tom raping her. 

Ewell’s daughter says that she called Tom in the evening and gave him a nickel to break a dresser for her. And then Atticus asks why she didn’t yell loud that makes other people to come and how Tom bruised her face with his useless left hand. Atticus answers that there was no rape and her father hit her. She yells to the Atticus in the courtroom and cries. Tom testifies that he always passed Ewell house to go to his work. On that evening, Mayella told Tom to come in her house and made him to lift a box down from a dresser. When he went up, she grabbed his legs, hugged him and asked him to kiss her. Suddenly her father came and Tom escaped.

Tom’s employer says that he never had any trouble when he is working. In Maycomb, Black people shouldn’t feel sorry for a White person. Mar. Glimer says Tom is telling a lie. Dill is crying and drinks some liquid. When the children go back to the courtroom, it is almost finish. Atticus says that the victims don’t have evidence for the crime and the physical evidence shows that Bob Ewell his Mayella.

After that, Calpurnia come in and tells Atticus that children didn’t go home yet. Atticus tells them to go home and eat dinner. Calpurnia goes home with the children, eat dinner and return to courtroom. After eleven O’clock, jury comes in and gives a verdict of guilty. Everyone cries on that night. The next day, Ms. Maudie asks about the trial to the children and gives them a cake. When they finish eating, Ms. Stephanie runs to them. She says in the morning, Ewell stopped Atticus on the post office corner, spat in his face, and told him he would get him if it took the rest of his life.

CHAPTER 9-15

        At school, Scout fights with a Cecil Jacobs. He announced to the school yard that “Scout Finch’s daddy defends nigger.” Atticus Finch, both Jem and Scout’s father and a lawyer. He is defending Tom Robinson, a black man who accused of raping a white woman. Tom doesn’t have a hope to win, but Atticus will try to argue with it. 

        During Christmastime, Atticus’s brother Jack came to stay their house for a week. Scout is happy that Uncle Jack came to meet her. On Christmas day, Atticus brings his children and Jack to Atticus’s sister, Alexandra. There is Alexandra’s grandson Francis, who is the most boring child for Scout. Francis tells Scout that Dill is a runt and calls Atticus as Nigger Lover. So Scout curses and hits him. Francis tells to adults that Scout hit him. Uncle Jack spanks her without hearing her story. After they go back to Maycomb, Scout tells Jack that story and Jack gets angry. Scout makes him not to tell Atticus. After that happens, Scout hears that Tom is innocent.

        One day, a mad dog appears in the Maycomb and coming toward the Finch’s house. However, Atticus shots the animal. Jem and Scout are amazing that her/his father shoot the dog. Atticus tells Jem to be a gentleman to Mrs. Dubose, who always shouts at Jem and Scout. One day, Mrs. Dubose tells to children that Atticus is not any better than the niggers and trash he works for. Jem is totally get angry and destroys all of her camellia bushes. Atticus gives him a punishment that he needs to go to her house everyday for a month and read to her. Moreover, Atticus didn’t tell that Mrs. Dubose was addicted to Morphine and she dies after a month.

        By now, Jem became the age of twelve. Jem is annoying that Scout keeps bothering him; So Scout is just waiting Dill to arrive in this summer. But Dill does not come to Macomb in this year. He tells them that her mother remarried and stays in Meridian. So Calpurnia take the children to her church on Sunday. One day, Lula is angry that she is bringing white children to her church. But everyone welcomes the children except her. By the way, Tom Robinson has accused by Bob Ewell. Aunt Alexandra explains to children why Tom has been accused.

        Aunt Alexandria makes children not to go to the church on Sunday. She tries to Atticus to get out of Calpurina. When they go to the bed, Dill is hiding under the bed. He runs away from his house, because his mother and father don’t care of him. So Jem tells Atticus about what’s happening to Dill.One day, sheriff and some men come to Atticus’s house. They tell that Tom Robinson has to move to the Maycomb jail. The following evening, Jem, Scout, and Dill go to the town center with their father. Atticus goes to the Maycomb jail and takes the children home.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1ST SUMMARY)

1ST SUMMARY

        This story is about 9 years old Scout Finch, 13 years old Jem Finch, and Dill who are curious about Boo Radley who lives next door. Scout goes to school for the first time, but she gets punishment by her teacher’s misunderstanding on her first day. After school, she tells his father that she will not go to school anymore. After school one day, Scout passes the Radley’s house and finds two pieces of chewing gum in the tree. On her last day of school, Jem and Scout find two old Indian-head pennies hidden in the same tree. After the school ends, Drill returns to Maycomb and they play games. 
        
       As they get older, Scout starts to feel lonely from the friendship and spending her time with Ms. Maudie. Jem and Dill plan to give a letter to Boo, but Atticus catches them and makes them to stop. Until the last day for Dill in Maycomb, Jem and Dill go over to the Radley’s house. They see the shadow of a man with a hat and hearing a shotgun sound. After that, adults gather around them and saying Mr. Radley shot at a Negro in his yard.

         A few days later, the school begins. Scout is still unhappy for the school.  After school, Jem and Scout finds a ball of gray twine and two figures carved soap again in the same tree. The next day, they find that the hole is filled with cement. Jem and Dill ask Boo's brother that why Boo filled with cement. The reason was tree is dying, so Boo filled with cement. But they already found the chewing gum, a spelling bee medal and an old pocket watch. 

       In the winter, Jem and Scout play with snow. Ms. Maudies’ house is on fire on that night. So Atticus, Scout, and Jem help her. But Ms. Mausie’s house burns to the ground and has no idea who put the fire on. Jem thinks that Boo put the fire on and he tells the story about the hole. Ms.Maudie lost her whole house, but she is cheering herself. She was hating her old home and was planning to build a new house.
